MiniEines - Food and Feed from Insect Business
The MiniEines project promotes primary production and processing of edible insects in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland. The main target group consists of the region’s rural (agricultural/horticultural) and food businesses. The project is implemented between October 2018 and December 2020.
Our objectives

To produce information for the needs of rural and food businesses.

To raise awareness of emerging, developing and expanding rural businesses on the opportunities of insect production as a business.

To raise awareness of food businesses on the opportunities of edible insects as raw materials.

To promote networking and cooperation between stakeholders involved in the insect value chain.
Our activities

We look into the present state and future plans of rural and food businesses in relation to insect production and processing. In addition, we survey their related competence and information needs.

We gather and publish information produced elsewhere on insect production and processing.

We benchmark national and international insect businesses and other operators in order to identify success factors and best practices.

We organise information and discussion events.

We plan for further steps towards thriving insect business.
